"We are WHAT?!?!" Harley screeched. The news was shocking enough but to have it told to her by Lord Hood and Master Chief was too much. What made it more special was, not only was it given to her in person, but her best friend was there to hear it.
"You heard me. You and Unoraptormon are going to Sanghelios. Start packing what you own and meet me at the base at 0900 hours," Lord Hood ordered. Harley and Unoraptormon looked at one another, both in utter amazement. The Master Chief broke their concentration.
"Let's get started. You have three hours," with that statement, Master Chief picked up the only things they owned.
A large container filled with hand-drawn pictures.
A large container filled with art supplies, such as pens, pencils, and paint.
A small sac filled with human clothing.
Then the two orphans picked themselves up and walked out the door into the blistering heat.
Harley, who appeared to be human, was wearing a sleeveless dark blue shirt and smooth baggy grey pants. Her skin was both tan and pale, her body capturing a few sunrays here and there. Her mixed brown hair came to the base of her skull, a barber's distraction turned into its product. At a height of five feet and six inches, she finally did not feel only three inches tall.
Her real companion, Unoraptormon, was a creature from ancient lore. Her overall appearance reminded one of a dinosaur. Her deep tan scales covered the majority of her body. Her belly was the color of pale human flesh, whilst the fourteen black triangles lined her exterior rib cage, seven on each side. The creature's head keenly resembled that of a Velociraptor, its eyes yellow and pupil slit. The dominant feature of its face was the three pale flesh horns. One was on top of the nose, the other two over each eye. The exterior rib cage, too, was a pale flesh, its bones curving toward the sky, yet inside it was a forever opened 'wound', dark purple blood endlessly churning. This wound was actually a second mouth, used for swallowing her enemies whole and doubling as another lung. Her other weapons were her claws and tail. Her front legs, truly arms, ended in human-like hands, four ebony talon fingers and one black clawed thumb. Her long tail ended with a club, resembling that of an Anklysaurus. Each side had a small sliver spike. The left spike had a blue tint, freezing poisons; the right had a yellow tint, paralyzing toxins; the center had a red tint, burning venom.
The three walked over a mile before they caught sight of the dull grey base. Each in turn was checked for weapons, Unoraptormon having trouble because of her attachments. She hissed at the guards who approached her.
"Unoraptormon," Harley whined, "We're gunna be late. Just tell 'em what you are and let's go!"
"I am a dragon. I should not be put through this!" Unoraptormon complained, her feathered wings emerging in a threatening manner. The guard nodded their heads and allowed them passage. After another few security checks, they made it to the Pelican, which faced toward them. Lord Hood stood talking to someone, but the tail end of the Pelican blocked the view. The two orphans quickly walked to the end, Master Chief taking his time. When they arrived, they were both again shocked. In front of them stood, not only an ODST with Lord Hood, but a Sangheili. Harley immediately recognized the Sangheili.
"You're Ship Master Rtas Vadum!" she spoke. Unoraptormon reacted to her voice. She was right beside Harley in a blink of an eye.
"You two must be the orphans Lord Hood told us about. The ODST and I are to escort you to the planet," he formally addressed them. The ODST simply nodded. When the Master Chief arrived, he hefted the two's luggage into the waiting pelican.
"Easy there Chief. Don't need this bird to crash," the pilot argued. Master Chief grunted, but before he could voice his thoughts, Lord Hood spoke.
"We will send the Master Chief and a squad of marines to check up on you and Unoraptormon in a few months," he stated, an additional and unnecessary statement.
"Who came up with that, Acky?" Harley asked. Acky, aka Colonel Ackerson, was not a favorite of Harley. He was the main reason she was an orphan.
"No, High Command," Lord Hood responded. Harley nodded. Unoraptormon leapt onto the Pelican. Rtas and the ODST helped Harley onto the bird and they both boarded. After everyone had settled, the Pelican launched itself into the air. On the way to the Sangheili vessel, the Pelican jumped up and down. Harley didn't like it, curling herself into a ball to avoid a negative reaction. Unoraptormon quickly wrapped around her friend, offering the most familiar comfort. The other two passengers watched in awe as they comforted each other.
"Interesting," Rtas commented. The bird then bounced in the air. Harley wrapped her arms around her friends neck, who in turn snuggled closer to her. The pilot shouted that it was turbulence. After what seemed to be an eternity for Harley, they landed in the Sangheili ship, Shadow of Intent. Rtas sighed and breathed in deeply as he stood. The door opened and the four left the Pelican. Three other Sangheili walked in and grabbed the property of the orphans. Rtas walked over to the orphans. Harley was still hanging onto Unoraptormon's neck. Unoraptormon nuzzled her friends head.
"Are you alright, Harley?" asked Unoraptormon. Harley finally looked up and shook her head.
"I really hate turbulence. Hey," Harley spoke toward the ODST. The marine walked up to her, "Who are you?"
"My name's Hunter Sligar," the marine stated, taking off his helmet. He was young, possibly sixteen. His flesh was pale, eyes and hair brown. He put his helmet back in place and stared at them. Finally he held out his hand. Harley shook it, "So, ready to move in?"
"Yeah, I'll get one of the bags," Harley walked over to one of the Sangheili, one with pitch black armor. He refused to let her carry the bag, "Why not?"
"You are an honored guest. You should not be burdened with all of this 'luggage'," he stated as he held the bag full of clothes. The other two Sangheili, both in maroon armor, nodded in agreement. Unoraptormon quickly walked over to them.
"Then let us go to our room," Unoraptormon stated. Hunter lead the way and soon they came across a heavily scarred Sangheili, one who eyed Unoraptormon with a lustful gaze.
"Hey, Ehru," Hunter greeted him casually. Ehru grunted. The small group continued on until Hunter finally stopped. The Sangheili walked in first and laid the containers on the King-sized bed. Harley and Unoraptormon followed, gazing at the massive space of the room.
"I am sorry, but this is the only room we had left. It is so small," one of the Sangheili stated. Harley and Unoraptormon traded looks, each shocked.
"This is where you and Unoraptormon will sleep until we reach Sangheilos. See you in a little while," Hunter stated. He left and the Sangheili followed shortly after. The two didn't speak for a long time. Then Harley broke the silence, but in tears.
"We finally have a home," she cried as she hugged Unoraptormon's neck. The dragon patted her friend on the back. She too shed a few tears, overjoyed that someone had finally given them a chance. Soon they wiped each other's tears and headed out. An escort waited for them. The golden armored Sangheili brought the two down to the mess hall and they parted ways. After getting their meal of worms, they found Hunter, who was enjoying his meal. Harley sat down beside him. Unoraptormon, however, had different plans.
"I will leave her in your care Hunter. See to it that she doesn't get hurt," Unoraptormon stated, heading off to the showers.
